I recently got the latest release of openSuse 11.3 from LFY August issue. I was having Fedora 10 earlier in my PC and Ubuntu Ultramatix. Unfortunately I could not configure Tata Photon Plus in etither of them. Later I came to know Tata Photon plus requires at least version 10 of Ubuntu.
So I installed the openSuse latest version and Bingo!, it worked. It is extremely simple to configure the Tata Photon Plus in the Suse. You can follow whatever is written in http://prototype777.blogspot.com/2010/08/wireless-usb-broadband-or-mobile.html. But that is not enough. You need to run wvdialconf before starting Step 2.
Also ensure smpppd is running. You can install it as an RPM from the Suse CD or you can download the source. If it is not running qinternet/cinternet is not going to work. You can manually start it or you can start it from yast.
smpppd info can be found here.
