Experience with class 12 pass

Circa 1999:
Me: Sir I want to complete my M.Sc. instead of MCA and join academics
Sir: Why not industry? You will get a better salary. Also you have joined a place with excellent placement records at par with IIT(he used to call it super successful employment exchange)
Me: No sir, I think I am better suited for an academic career.
Sir: I think you are afraid of joining the industry.
....
....
Long conversation, but finally
Sir: So what level do you want to join? School, high school, college or university?
Me: Sir university. Maturity level is better
Sir(interrupting me): You mean brain dead.
Me(sternly): So you think we are brain dead sir. And you don't get any satisfaction trying to teach us.
Sir(Smiling): If there were no job satisfaction here, I would have opened a sari shop in Laxmi Road. All I am telling is be more hard nosed about it. If you know how to make something palatable, the school students will accept it with far greater ease then a university student.
Me(slightly confused and of quite irritated); Okay sir, thank you for giving me time
2019:
I am trying to train a bunch of class twelve pass in a small town linux and python programming. They don't know what a program is, or what is a programming language, They don't know logic. They don't even know what is an operating system. Perhaps for the first time they are touching laptop key board. I could very well understand that they were searching for keys thanks to my ear I understood the novice sonata of key strokes. But the receptive power and willingness to learn is amazing. Their inquisitiveness knows no bound. For the first time someone asked me which key I was pressing to clear the screen of linux terminal. Today when I entered the class I was surprised to see they were on vi editor(one of the most beginner hostile editor) trying to teach me a thing or two which key stroke does what. They will religiously watch all videos I ask them to watch and bombard me with questions the next day. I was extremely hesitant about this assignment. Payment is also not up to the standard. I still don't know why I said yes.
Yes, the master was right
